The shock-absorbing IMU mount has been developed by Gabro Racing over the last two years of racing activity with the Aprilia RS660 and Tuono 660. It acts as a ‘cushion’ by absorbing the motorcycle’s vibrations, preventing the inertial unit from being affected. This latest revision has proven to significantly reduce the occurrence of the issues described below.
The IMU platform for RS660 (Inertial Measurement Unit) installed on these bikes is very sensitive to vibrations and can trigger a warning when pushed to the limit, especially on the track.
The dashboard warning says “ATC disabled service alarm.” The bike’s ECU diagnostics register it as “Sensor box failure P1911.” Besides vibration, the error can also be triggered by hitting a curb on the track.
You can see that most onboard videos on YouTube actually show this warning.
When the error occurs, the bike’s electronic aids are cut off from the gyroscope’s (IMU platform) information, and the ECU goes into “safe mode,” limiting the bike’s performance.
Turning the bike off and back on can reset the warning and restore the correct operational state, but only until the problem occurs again.
Bikes tested with these parts installed have never shown the IMU error again, but testing is still ongoing to certify a 100% solution to the problem.
